Russell's Reserve 10 Year is a small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon from the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, aged ten years and bottled at 90 proof. This is the 2022 release, a classic, well-built bourbon from the Russell family.
About This Bourbon
The 10 Year uses Wild Turkey's standard bourbon mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, and matures in new American oak barrels given a No. 4 "alligator" char, the deepest level of charring. Barrels aged at least ten years are batched in small lots and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Orange zest, butterscotch, vanilla and a touch of maple.
- Palate: Creamy toffee, caramel corn, cinnamon and light oak.
- Finish: Medium length, sweet and gently spicy.
Serving & Food
Pour at room temperature over one large ice cube, or neat in a rocks glass. It makes a fine Boulevardier with Campari and sweet vermouth, and a sturdy Old Fashioned. At the table, try it with barbecued pork ribs, fried chicken, or a pecan tart.
How to Enjoy
An everyday sipping bourbon with an age statement, and a reliable base for stirred cocktails at home.

About the Distillery
Jimmy Russell started at Wild Turkey on 10 September 1954, aged 18, sweeping floors. He learned the trade under Bill Hughes and Ernest W. Ripy Jr., a member of the family that founded the distillery, and rose to master distiller. In 2024 he marked seventy years with the company.
Russell's Reserve began as a tribute from son to father. To celebrate Jimmy's 45 years at the distillery, Eddie Russell put together a small-batch bourbon carrying the family name. It went on sale in 2001 as a 10-year-old at 101 proof, and in 2005 it settled at the 90-proof strength used today.
