Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux 2006 is the second wine of Château Margaux, a First Growth (Premier Cru Classé) Margaux estate, bottled at 750mL and shipped in its original wooden case (OWC, 12 x 750mL). The 2006 Bordeaux vintage is widely cited as a structured, ageworthy Left Bank year after a hot summer.
About This Wine
Pavillon Rouge has been produced under that name since 1904, drawn from younger Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines on the Margaux estate's deep-gravel vineyard, with the grand vin reserved for the oldest vines on the Plateau de Margaux. The wine is vinified and aged at the Château Margaux cellars in Margaux. The 2006 Bordeaux vintage is widely cited as a structured, ageworthy Left Bank year after a hot summer.

About the Château
Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux is the second wine of Château Margaux, classed First Growth under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The second wine has been produced under the Pavillon Rouge name since 1904, drawn from younger Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot parcels on the estate's deep-gravel Margaux vineyard, with the grand vin reserved for the oldest vines on the Plateau de Margaux. The Mentzelopoulos family has owned the estate since 1977, with current CEO Alexis Leven-Mentzelopoulos overseeing the modern management. The estate also produces the third wine Margaux du Château Margaux and the dry white Pavillon Blanc, also from Sauvignon Blanc on the same gravels.
