About This Whisky
Each year's 12 Year Old is a marriage of about 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks, bottled without chill filtration. The 2022 release keeps that structure, so the differences from year to year are small and come mostly from the particular casks in each vatting.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Lemon, pear, sea air, soft malt and a hint of Turkish delight.
- Palate: Oily and lively, with citrus, honey, a pinch of salt and gentle peat.
- Finish: Clean and medium in length, with pepper, dried fruit and a last wisp of smoke.
Serving & Food
Pour neat into a tulip glass, or add a teaspoon of water to lift the fruit. It goes well with oysters, grilled mackerel or a plate of Iberico ham.

About the Distillery
Glengyle is run as an independent, family-controlled business alongside Springbank, and the two share people and a hands-on way of working. When spirit began to flow again in 2004, the team released the young whisky in a series of Work in Progress bottlings, letting drinkers taste the malt as it matured year by year. That open approach built a loyal following long before the whisky reached twelve. The name Kilkerran comes from the Gaelic name for Campbeltown, a reminder that the town once had dozens of distilleries.
