Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve Single Malt Whisky 700mL is the no-age-statement forest-distillery single malt from House of Suntory, positioned as the fresher, lighter smoky expression within Suntory’s Japanese single malt range. It is the entry point for buyers who want Hakushu’s herbal character without committing to an aged release.
From the Producer
Hakushu Distillery was built in 1973 by House of Suntory in the forests at the foot of Mt. Kaikomagatake, at one of the highest elevations of any malt-whisky site in the world. Water for production is drawn from the surrounding mountains, and the air, forest botanicals and cooler climate shape the distillery’s herbal, minty and gently smoky house character. The Distiller’s Reserve is Suntory’s younger, brighter take on the distillery, designed for highballs and fresh sipping rather than aged expression weight.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Peppermint, melon and cucumber.
- Palate: Yuzu, grapefruit and lemon thyme, with the distillery’s bright, forested freshness running through the middle.
- Finish: Subtle smoke.
Best For
Japanese whisky drinkers who want a fresher, lighter smoky profile, highball service and gifting for buyers already familiar with Suntory’s core house styles.
