Glenmorangie made this 23-year-old single malt for the 2022 Lunar New Year, the Year of the Tiger. Fittingly, it was distilled in 1998, which was also a Tiger year. Only 888 bottles were filled for the Chinese market.
About This Whisky
Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2021 at 23 years old, this whisky is a marriage of spirit matured in ex-bourbon casks and in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It was bottled at 46% ABV, with an outturn of 888 bottles. Some bottles were signed by Dr Bill Lumsden.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Orange and mandarin peel with honey, vanilla and a dusting of warm spice.
- Palate: Sweet and plush, with raisin, fig and toffee from the PX wood over creamy malt and ripe citrus.
- Finish: Warming and fairly long, with ginger, orange zest and soft oak.
Serving & Food
Pour it for the table after the reunion dinner, unchilled and without ice, in tulip glasses. It suits nian gao, roast goose, or a plate of mandarins and candied ginger.

The house spirit is floral and citrus-led, and the distillery has spent decades learning how different casks shape it. That experience shows in releases like this one, where sherry wood is used to add sweetness and colour without covering the fruit.
