Dom Pérignon Vintage 2012 reveals a unique structure, channelled by acidity and bitterness and combining intensity, contained tautness and extreme contradictions.
From the Producer
Dom Pérignon is the prestige cuvée of Moët & Chandon, produced only in declared vintage years from grand and premier cru vineyards across Champagne. The brand takes its name from the Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Pérignon, credited by the maison with refining méthode champenoise at the abbey of Hautvillers in the 17th century; today the cuvée is shaped by successive cellar masters, with Vincent Chaperon currently leading the winemaking team. Dom Pérignon is produced exclusively as a vintage wine (no non-vintage bottling) and aged on the lees for a minimum of seven years before release. The 2012 vintage was released by the maison in 2022 after extended lees ageing, with the maison describing it as shaped by extreme weather and channelled by acidity and bitterness into intensity and contained tautness.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Lemon, green and red apple, white cherry and brioche over a deep chalky base.
- Palate: Layered and precise, with citrus tension, salinity and controlled power rather than simple opulence.
- Finish: Very long and chalky, carried by freshness and a firm line of acidity.
Best For
Prestige Champagne service, collector gifting and serious dinners where a structured vintage cuvée is preferred over a softer style.
