Leroy Richebourg 2009 750mL

Somewhat curiously, this is more open and slightly more evolved than the RSV, two things that are very rare when these two wines are compared at such an early stage chez Leroy. A very ripe nose of violet, lavender, rose petals, Asian-style spice and lovely mineral notes comprise the highly layered and attractive aromatic profile. There is the usual excellent richness and intensity to the mineral-inflected broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent concentration and length. But even with all of those impressive attributes duly noted, and they are indeed most impressive, this still can't match the very best of these grands crus in 2009.
