The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys Vieilles Vignes is lovely, bursting with aromas of cherries, raspberries, licorice and spices, framed by a deft touch of toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with a charming core of fruit, powdery tannins and fine depth at the core. As ever, this derives from old vines below Charmes-Chambertin and shares some of that Cru's attributes.
