2005 Hundred Acre Kayli Morgan Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml (Limited)

The Kayli is a powerful, opulent Cabernet, well on its way to ultra-cult status. Fermented in wood puncheons, this is a layered, complex Cabernet Sauvignon that is luxurious on the palate. Look for aromatics of cedar, cherries, licorice and an underlying sweetness.

Wine Advocate the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan looks to be the finest Cabernet Sauvignon Jayson Woodbridge has yet produced, and has put on weight and complexity since I tasted it last year. Like all of his Cabernet Sauvignons, this wine is fermented in wood puncheons or demi-muids, and is a breathtaking example of plush, layered, complex Cabernet Sauvignon. A total thrill, this wine has absolutely awesome aromatics of crème de cassis, cedar, sweet cherries, spice box, as well as licorice and graphite. A caramelized sweetness to the fruit, loads of glycerin, unbelievable unctuosity and opulence a la Pomerol’s Le Pin or some of the legendary vintages of right bank Bordeaux leads into a full-bodied, concentrated, exceptionally pure wine that is a total delight to smell, contemplate, sip, and in my case, spit out. This is a wine that can be drunk young or cellared for 20+ years. Score range: 96-99. Score: 99. —Robert Parker, December 2007.

Wine Spectator Sleek, with firm, ripe, well-defined black cherry, currant, earth, mineral and a hint of graphite. Tightens up on the finish, with gritty tannins, but nothing out of line for a barrel sample. Score range: 92-94. Score: 94. —James Laube, August 31, 2006

2005 Hundred Acre Ark Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml (Limited)

The 2005 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Ark is gorgeously rich, with a deep ruby/purple color and crème de cassis aromas intermixed with some graphite, licorice, fresh tobacco, espresso, and spice. Dense and massive, with rich, opulent, structured layers of mocha, blackberry, black currant and plum. The wine expresses supple tannins and beautiful concentration, and the flavors run deep and gain momentum on the finish. This wine will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and drink well for two decades. Wine Advocate the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark is gorgeously rich, with a deep ruby/purple color and crème de cassis aromas intermixed with some graphite, licorice, espresso, and spice. An opulent, fleshy wine with more noticeable tannic structure and earthiness, this wine will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and drink well for two decades. 94-96 Score: 96. —Robert Parker, December 2007.

2005 Hundred Acre Ancient Way Shiraz 750ml (Limited)

This is called the "one of the most incredible vineyard sites in the world" with the "very best vines". The grapes are very small and the concentration is nothing short of incredible. This full-bodied, single vineyard Shiraz is packed with loads of black fruit with mocha, subtle spice, and smoke notes. This is rich, almost massive on the palate, and the flavors run deep and gain momentum on the long finish. Jayson put the Ancient Way in front of Robert Parker and he loved it.

This wine has the consistency of motor oil -- with beautiful red and purple highlights. The nose is incredibly complex...fruit, spice, roasted meat, earth all intermingling. On the palate, it's a hammer in a velvet glove. Not for the faint of heart, but also more nuanced than any Aussie tasted.
